The Newport Concours d'Elegance is a Classic Car exposition founded in 2006 by founding partner John W. Lyons (Former Vice Chair) and Mark Hurwitz (Chairman). This event invites very significant automobiles to be displayed for the general public to enjoy. The event is produced to raise money for charity. The 2006 charities were Heifer Project International, Hole In The Wall Gang Camps and the Jimmy Fund.

The 2006 event held the weekend of May 26, 2006, included a golf tournament, vintage road tour of historic Newport Rhode Island, two fund raising gala dinners and the Concours d'Elegance held at Astor's Beachwood Mansion.

The 2007 event featured boattail speedsters and skiff style automobiles. The event moved from Astor's Beachwood to a privately location known as Del Mar on Goat Island. The 2007 event was not without controversy as the Preservation Society of Newport County attempted their own concours event (having seen the success of the 2006 Newport Concours). While the event was very well produced, the PSNC lost substantial money on the endeavor and promptly cancelled future events of this nature.

For 2008, The Newport Concours d'Elegance revived and highlighted the 'marriage' between the custom coachbuilder and fashion designer, prevalent during the Art Deco period and enjoyed its second (and final) year at Del Mar.

In 2009, the Newport Concours welcomed Wayne Carini and the crew from Chasing Classic Cars to document the re-emergence of one of America's great collectors, Johnnie Pascucci who brought his 1932 Dusenberg Durham Tourster showing it for the first time in decades. Howard and Madeline Fafard won best-in-show with their just-restored Isotta Fraschini. Also, the Ferrari Club actively participated with several wonderful examples of that legendary marque present as well. The event moved to its permanent location of Fort Adams.

The 2010 event celebrated the V in collecting; V-12's, V-windshield automobiles and V-twin Indian motorcycles. The event was held at Fort Adams State Park for the second year in a row and celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2010. The show changed direction somewhat with many more late model and custom cars in attendance.

2011 featured high end exotic cars and super cars. It was again held at Fort Adams and continued to include many more late model cars in addition to the super cars in attendance.

In 2012 the show was placed into hiatus due to venue issues with plans to relaunch in 2019.

The Audrain Museum of Newport Rhode Island announced a relaunch of the Newport Concours scheduled for the first week of October, 2019. With events planned from October 3rd through the 6th, it is an auspicious schedule for a first-year event. Original Newport Concours Founder John Lyons was asked to help run the event but declined citing concerns with inexperienced key show employees and lack of sponsorship interest in the show.
